Filipe came to the UK over 55 years ago and began his career in 1967 with the Hilton Group of Hotels. He commenced his employment as a service waiter, moving up the ladder to Banqueting Operations Manager, a post which he held for over 20 years.

He was also involved with training silver service staff as well as wine waiters to a high calibre, so he knows his Château Talbot from his Château Lafite.

Filipe has served many celebrities and members of royalty, from HRH Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to the younger royals, Prince William and Prince Harry. His list of celebrities includes The Beatles, Tom Jones, and James Bond actors ranging from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. He also served politicians from Harold Wilson to David Cameron and Ronald Reagan, to name just a few.

He has catered for numerous sports figures, cricketers, and rugby players, and served prime ministers who attended during the Olympics when the Hilton was the headquarters for the Games held in the UK.

Filipe retired 12 years ago, but the hotel missed him so much they asked him to return and continue providing hospitality services on behalf of the Hilton Group. He was awarded a 50-year service recognition in 2017, and the Hilton Bali celebrated 52 years of service for him. He now serves as an ambassador for the Hilton Group of Hotels.
